Former US President Barack Obama Says He Spent Childhood Listening To Ramayana And Mahabharata

Former US President Barack Obama is currently in the news for a book called A Promise Land. The former Potus wrote in the book about his political experiences. There are many references to India in his autobiography. Barack Obama has revealed that he had never visited India before his presidential visit in 2010. As a child he listened to epic legends such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

Speaking about his fascination with India, he wrote, “Perhaps it is the full size of (India), one-sixth of the world’s population, approximately two thousand different ethnic groups and over seven hundred languages. He shares that India has a special place in his imagination. He cited the reason, “Maybe I spent part of my childhood listening to epic Hindu stories of the Ramayana and Mahabharata in Indonesia, or because of my interest in Eastern religions or because of a Pakistani group, and Indian college friends who taught me to cook dal and kima and turned me into Bollywood films.”

Barack Obama released an autobiography yesterday and even shared the video on social media. “My autobiography, A Promised Land, is over today. I hope you read it.
