French Open: Rafael Nadal reached the semifinals for the 14th time, beating Diego Schwartzman

Despite losing the first set at the French Open, Rafael Nadal managed to reach the record semifinals for the 14th time. Thirteen-time French Open champion Nadal defeated tenth seeded Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. Nadal trailed 4-3 in the third set but won nine in a row.

Nadal will now face top-seeded player Novak Djokovic or ninth-seeded Matteo Beretini. The second semifinal will be between world number 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas and sixth seed Alexander Zverev. Nadal, who turns 35 next week, holds a record of 105.2 2 at Roland Garros. Earlier in the women’s division, Maria Sakkari reached her first Grand Slam semifinal, defeating defending champion Inga Swatek in the French Open by 11 games and 22 sets.

The 17th-ranked Sakkari defeated Swiatake 6-4, 6-4 to become the new Grand Slam champion in the Claycourt Tournament. In the semifinals, all four women reached the last four of Grand Slam. This is the second time this has happened in the era of professional tennis. Earlier in the semifinals of the 1978 Australian Open, all players had reached the last four for the first time. The unseeded will face Barbara Krasikova, who will not be seeded, while Anastasia P will face Tamara Gdansk. Barbara defeated 17-year-old Coco Gou 7-6, 6-3.
