Today is a very special day for Indian cricket because today wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik is celebrating his 36th birthday. Born in Chennai on June 1, 1985, Karthik joined the Indian team in 2004, but his place in the team has never been confirmed. Karthik is a member of the winning team for the first time in 2007, when he defeated Pakistan at the T20 World Cup. One of his most memorable moments was the knock of 34 runs against Bangladesh in the final of the 2018 Nidahas Trophy when former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit a six.

Playing in Colombo, Karthik scored 29 off 8 balls. In the final, India needed 34 runs in their last two overs. Karthik scored 22 runs in the 19th over. Finally India needed five runs off the ball and that bowling was made by Bangladesh part-time bowler Soumya Sarkar. Karthik gave India a historic win by hitting a six over the cover in the last delivery. After winning a team like this, Dhoni then started calling fans here Mr Finisher.

“Before that I was ready to bat at No. 5, but I am going to bat at No. 6,” skipper Rohit Sharma said. So I was happy with that too. I was absolutely sure I was going to bat at No. 6. Rohit said, “When the fourth wicket was up, I was going to bat, but then Vijay Shankar should go to bat.” So I was very disappointed and angry at the time. But obviously you can’t question the hero.
