Hartalika Teez, one of the four teas celebrated in India during the Hindu month of the Hindu calendar. Hartalika Teej, which is celebrated to welcome the rainy season, is of special relevance to Goddess Shiva and her consort Parvati.
The word Hartalika comes from the two words ‘harat’ and ‘alika’ which means ‘abduction’ and ‘female friend’. Legends Parvati Devi has asked her friend to kidnap her father Vishnu who is unable to marry her.
