Mumbai: Kerala set a 199-run target against Haryana in the crucial match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Kerala won the toss and elected to field. Shivam Chauhan (59 off 34 balls), Chaitanya Bishnoi (45 off 29 balls) and Rahul Thewatia (41 not out off 26 balls) were the top scorers for Haryana.
Arun Chaprana (10) and Himanshu Rana (6) were easily dismissed by Kerala while Haryana were 43 for two. Later, Yashu Sharma was dismissed for zero and Rohit Sharma for four as they were 102 for five in the 12th over. However, Chauhan and Thewatia then broke up and found the back of the net. Chauhan hit six fours and a six while IPL star Thevatia hit four fours and two sixes. For Kerala, Sachin Baby and Jalaj Saxena took two wickets each.
Haryana won the first four matches of the Elite Group E. Kerala is second with three wins. Kerala must win today to make knockout dreams come true.
