Illegal cigarette maker arrested by Pine and Essay Lights worth Rs 129 crore

The DGGI officials of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Investigation Unit have arrested a Haryana man for illegally manufacturing and delivering cigarettes. The Ministry of Finance has informed about this. The investigation revealed that Sharma manufactured and supplied cigarettes under the brand name Nidhi Black, Gold Queen and E-10. Investigations have also revealed that international trademarks such as Paris, Pine, Blackjarm and Essay Lights have also been illegally manufactured.

In a statement released late Friday, the ministry said a person has been tax fraud worth Rs 129 crore from illegal cigarette making and supply. “Gurugram Zone unit of the Directorate of GST Vigilance (DGGI) has arrested Satyendra Sharma, a resident of Haryana,” the statement said. They illegally produced and supplied cigarettes without submitting the required documents and paying GST and cess.
