Income Tax Return Filing: Last date of ITR filing increased, know new date

New Delhi: The Central Government has extended the last date for filing income tax return (ITR Filing Last Date). In this regard, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a notification. The CBDT has also set a deadline for different people and companies. The last date for filing returns for job taxpayers has been 10 January 2021. Previously, the last date for filing tax returns for all types of taxpayers was 31 December 2020.

January 10 date for these people

CBDT has said in its notification that taxpayers who do not have to audit their returns and use ITR-1 (ITR-1) or ITR-4 (ITR-4) form to file their returns. It happens that the last date for them has been made 10 January.

This is the last date for companies

The government has also extended the last date for filing returns for companies and businessmen as well.

The date for filing returns for traders registered under the GST Act 2017 of the financial year 2019-20 has been 28 February.

At the same time, the last date for filing the return of income tax for companies has been made February 15.

Taxpayers with liabilities above Rs 1 lakh, whose accounts have been put in audit, the last date for filing returns was 31 January 2021, which has been increased to 15 February 2021.

The last date of the trust scheme from the dispute was 31 December 2020, which has now been extended to 31 January.

Due to accounts of any foreign transaction and special domestic transactions, the due date will be extended from 31 January to 15 February 2021.

Here’s how to fill online ITR

  • First you go to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
  • Log in by entering user ID (PAN), password, date of birth and captcha code.
  • Go to the ‘e-File’ tab and click on the Income Tax Return link.
  • First of all, choose which ITR form to fill. What is assessment year
  • If the original returns are being filed, click on the ‘Original’ tab
  • If filling the revised returns, click on ‘Revised Return’
  • After that select Prepare and Submit Online then click Continue.
  • After this, fill all the information given in the new page and keep saving, because if the session time is out then all the information filled will disappear.
  • In this, you have to fill all the information about investment, health and life insurance.
  • After filling all the information, at the end the Verification page will come, which you can verify at the same time, otherwise you can verify within 120 days.
  • After this, click on Previw and submit and submit to ITR.

Don’t forget the verification

The most important thing is that the taxpayer who files an electronic signature without electronic signatures ie without e-verification income tax return (ITR), has to verify it within 120 days of ITR uploading. There are 4 ways to do this –
1. Through Aadhaar OTP
2. Login to e-filing account through net banking
3. Through Electronic Verification Code (EVC)
4. The signed signature on both sides of ITR-V will have to be sent to Bengaluru.

Remember that if you do not file ITR-V within 120 days, the return can be declared as ‘not filled’ i.e. invalid.
