IND vs. AUS: Ian Chappell appeals to ICC to ban ‘switch hit’ shot

Former Australian captain Ian Chappell has appealed to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ban switch hit shots. He said the shot was not suitable for the bowler and the fielding team. In the three-match ODI series between India and Australia, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell have used swig hits a lot. Australia won the first two ODIs to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

IND vs. AUS: Team India has to make two big changes to win the third ODI, Akash Chopra said.

Speaking to Wide World of Sports, Chappell said, “In the second match, Maxwell and Warner took many shots. If the batsman changes hands or feet before hitting the ball, it should be an illegal shot. Appears to be fielding and then all of a sudden he plays with his left hand which is wrong.

“I don’t understand why bowlers don’t complain about this,” the former captain said. Cricket fans said it should be stopped. In the second one-day international at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Glenn Maxwell played a stunning 63-run innings of 29 balls, during which he played multiple switch shots. The third and final match of the series will be held in Canberra on December 2.
