The first match of the four-match Test series between India and England is being played at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. England have decided to bat first after winning the toss and the team seems to be in a very strong position so far. Thanks to an unbeaten century partnership between Joe Root and Dominic Sibley, England have crossed 250 after losing just 2 wickets. Joe Root scored his 100th Test hundred and joined the Special Club.

Joe Root became the world’s 9th batsman to score a century while playing the 100th Test. The list includes the names of legendary batsmen Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting and Inzamam-ul-Haq. Root became the first batsman to score centuries in the 98th, 99th and 100th Tests. Prior to Root, no batsman had conceded a century in these three Tests. On the first day of the Test, England were in a strong position, thanks to Root’s innings. Dominic Sibley is also very supportive of the original, standing in the crease.
