The first Test of the four-Test series between India and England is being played at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The first day of the Test has been completely named for England. Joe Root, captain of the batting team, hit a century in his 100th match and took the team to a strong position. Joe Root scored a century in his 100th Test match against India at the special club of Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith and Inzamam-ul-Haq.
