All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit a half-century after opener KL Rahul and India took a 95-run lead in the third and first innings of the first Test against England. Due to rain, only 49 overs were played on the third day, in which India scored 278 in their first innings, while England scored 25 in the second innings. England scored 183 in the first innings and India still 70.

In the next over of the same bowler, Jadeja hit a boundary first and then a six in the long leg. He completed his 16th Test half-century by sending Robinson to four. However, Jadeja blew the last ball of the same over and caught it in mid-off. Bumrah, Mohammad Shami (13) and Mohammad Siraj (7 not out) did not give England bowlers a break. Bumrah hit two fours and a six in successive deliveries by Sam Curran. England immediately took the new ball but Bumrah and Siraj managed to add 33 runs for the last wicket.
