IND vs ENG: Prithvi Shah and Suryakumar Yadav associated with Team India, available for selection from Third Test

Young openers Prithvi Shah and Suryakumar Yadav have joined India’s squad for the current tour of England. Both players have completed the quarantine and have joined the team at Lord’s. Shah and Suryakumar have been replaced by BCCI after being dropped from the current tour due to injuries from opener Shubman Gill, all-rounder Washington Sundar and Weser Awesh Khan.

Both batsmen were included in the limited-overs Indian team for the tour of Sri Lanka, where Suryakumar was selected as the best player of the ODI series. On this tour, India won the 2-1 ODI series under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan, but lost the T20 series by 1-2. Abhimanyu Eshwaran, the Bengal top-order batsman, has been included in India’s main squad for the tour of England.

Suryakumar and Prithvi had to leave Sri Lanka for England on July 31, but due to visa documents they had to stay for 2 more days. Suryakumar has yet to make his Test debut, while Prithvi Shah has played 5 Tests for India. After joining the team, both cricketers are now available for selection in the Third Test. The third match of the five-match Test series between India and England will be played at Headingley from 25 August (Wednesday).
