Infosys CEO Salil Parekh reached out to Finance Ministry

When the Ministry of Finance summoned Salil Parekh, Managing Director and CEO of Infosys, a leading information technology company, the portal was addressed by the Ministry of Finance to address the issues at the Income Tax Department’s new Income Tax Portal www.incometax.gov. So today the finance minister has reached out to the finance ministry to meet with Nirmala Sitharaman. Today, after two months, Parekh will have to tell the finance minister why the problems remain in the portal and why they are not solved.

Earlier, the Income Tax Department tweeted, “The Finance Ministry has summoned Infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh on August 23. Parekh will have to explain to the finance minister how the problems will continue in this e-filing portal. As of August 21, this portal is not available. Meanwhile, the company tweeted that the portal’s emergency management is over and the site is live.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Infosys officials on June 22 to review the problems faced by the Income Tax Portal. In a written reply to Parliament, Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, on behalf of various stakeholders including Indian Chartered Accountants (ICAI), has provided details of over 700 issues, including over 90 issues, tax professionals and taxpayers.
