Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 6 wickets in the 18th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Batting first after losing the toss, Kolkata scored 133 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Rahul Tripathi scored 36 and Dinesh Karthik 25. Chris Morris, who was bowling superbly, took 4 wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs. In reply, Rajasthan set a target of 134 runs in 18.5 overs. Thanks to skipper Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 42 run innings. This was Rajasthan’s second win of the season, the fourth consecutive defeat by KKR.

Chasing a target of 134, Rajasthan did not get off to a good start and the team lost their first wicket in the fourth over as Jose Butler (5). After this, Shivam Mavi became the victim of a successful Jaiswal 22-run, playing his first match in IPL 2021. Skipper Sanju Samson and Shivam Dubey (22) added 45 runs for the third wicket. Dubey was the second victim of Varun Emperor. Rahul Tiwatia was promoted to David Miller, but he was unable to do anything special and was dismissed for 5 runs. David Miller (24) and Samson did not take any wickets and won the match by 6 wickets.

Earlier, the poor performance of Kolkata batsmen continued in this match. Openers Shubman Gill (11) and Nitish Rana (22) started slow. Shubman was struggling enough during his inning and returned to the pavilion after the runout. Rana also walked on Chetan Zakaria’s ball after the aftermath. Rahul Tripathi (36) made good shots from one end but he did not get the support of other batsmen. Sunil Narayan (6) and Andre Russell (9) could do nothing special. Dinesh Karthik scored 25, but Pat Cummins (10) and Karthik broke Morris’s KKR back in the same over. Rajasthan’s Chris Morris took four wickets for just 23 runs in his 4 overs while Chetan Zakaria and Jaydev Unadkat took one wicket each.
