There have been 27 matches played between the two in the IPL and two in the Champions League. The Mumbai Indians have won twice in the Champions League, while the Mumbai Indians have won 17 matches in the IPL and 10 in the RCB. This is the third match between the two teams at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both teams have clashed twice on the field before and both have won one match each.
In 2008 and 2009, the two teams played two matches and won one.
