Chennai Super Kings defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets in the eighth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Batting first, Punjab Kings’ explosive batting order was shredded before the CSK bowlers and the team could only score 106 after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Young batsman Shah Rukh Khan has scored 47 runs for the team. In reply, Chennai lost four wickets in just 15.3 overs and scored 107 runs behind Moin Ali (47) and Faf Duplessi (36).

Chasing a 107-run target, Chennai did not start well and the team lost Rituraj Gaikwad by 24 runs. After this, Moin Ali and Faf Duplesey shared a 64-run partnership for the second wicket and almost ensured CSK’s victory. Muhammad Ashwin scored 31 off 31 balls. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings bowlers took four wickets for 26 runs in the powerplay from Punjab Kings, while skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni defended his decision to bowl first. It was sent to the pavilion by Deepak Chahar, who was thrown by Mayank Agarwal (0) in the first over. Even after that he kept up the pressure and allowed only two boundaries in his four over spell. Punjab skipper KL Rahul (05) was caught on a short cover by Ravindra Jadeja, who was caught on a short cover. Jadeja then dived in the fifth over, catching a huge catch and completing Chris Gayle’s 10-run innings, which was Chahar’s second wicket.

Nicholas Pooran was dismissed for the second time, caught by Shahrul’s small ball in Shahdurul Thakur’s hand in the log leg. Shahrukh Khan and Jay Richardson (15 runs, 22 balls, two fours) added 31 runs for the sixth wicket. Then Murugan Ashwin (06) along with Shah Rukh Khan (30) helped Punjab to reach the score. Shahrukh Khan scored 47 for Punjab and was dismissed by Sam Karan in the last over.
