Legend of Kharmas

According to a popular story, the sun god once rode his chariot of seven horses and revolved around the universe. But this time he was nowhere to be found. If he remained somewhere at this time his whole life would have stopped. Practice was started, but with constant movement, the horses in his chariot became exhausted and the horses began to thirst.

The sun god worried about the horses’ pathetic condition. So he went up to the shore of the pond to comfort the horses, to drink water and a little rest for the horses in the chariot. But he realizes that if the chariot stops, it will be destructive, because the whole life will stop once the chariot stops. On the banks of the pond were two Khars, that is, silt. As soon as Suryadev spied on those two scratches, he left his horses there to rest and added khar or courage to his chariot, so that the chariot would continue. But because of them, the speed of the chariot slowed considerably.

Yet somehow a month cycle was completed. On the other hand, the horse of the sun god was also powerful after rest and descended into the chariot again. In this way, this sequence continues every year and each solar year is called the solar month ‘Khar month’.
