Petrol and diesel prices are constantly increasing. In such a situation, people are increasingly facing other energy options. Although electric vehicles are also seen as an option, CNG is still very popular in this regard. In such a situation, the country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is working to rapidly consolidate its portfolio of CNG vehicles. Now the company will add two new cars in this segment.
According to recent media reports, Maruti Suzuki is working on its Swift CNG variants and the best-selling compact sedan Dzire. Recently, these cars have been identified in various cases during testing. These cars are being tested with the CNG kit. It is being said that these cars will be launched for sale soon.
Currently, 6 cars are available for sale in the CNG portfolio. These include the Alto, S-Presso, Ertiga, Celerio, WagonR and Van Eco. With these two cars, there will be a total of 8 cars, which is the largest in the Indian market in terms of the investment of CNG vehicles. Hyundai is also involved in this race for CNG, but it is far from Maruti.
Let’s just say that both of these Maruti cars come with a 1.2 liter dual-jet petrol engine that produces 90 ps of power and 113 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. It is believed that the company can only offer their CNG variants with manual transmission.
What’s the price:
However, before releasing these cars, it is difficult to say anything about their prices. However, Swift and DZire’s CNG variants cost between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1 lakh more than the petrol variants. The current Maruti Swift is priced at Rs 5.81 lakh to Rs 8.42 lakh while the sedan DZire is priced at Rs 5.98 lakh to Rs 9.02 lakh. Except for the Ertiga, most of the company’s CNG models offer mileage of 30 to 32 km per kg. In such a situation, Dzire’s mileage is also expected to be around.
