Mehbooba’s biggest allegation about DDC election – central blocking of non-BJP parties

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday accused the Center of blocking the participation of political parties other than the BJP in the ongoing District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

The major parties in the Valley, including the National Conference and the PDP, have accused him of not getting equal opportunity in the elections. They allege that the administration does not allow their candidates to be promoted and is under house arrest.

The PDP chief tweeted, “The Government of India is blocking the participation of non-BJP parties in the DDC elections.” Despite insufficient security, PDP leader Basheer Ahmed was arrested in Pahalgam in the name of security. Today is the last day of the nomination and DC Anantnag has spoken for his release.

It is difficult to provide security for each candidate, and the candidates are being provided with mass security and are kept in safe areas, police said. Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said the candidates were being given double security. The security forces also defend the area they want to campaign for.
