Amazon’s second season of Mirzapur has recently been released, after two years of fanfare, and comparisons to Game of Thrones and Gangs of Wasseypur have already begun. Several fans took to Twitter to share side-by-side pictures of UP-set crime drama and HBO’s big-budget fantasy scenes.
While some fans find stand-ins for Goat characters in the Badlands of Mirzapur, others thought the entire scene and scenery was reminiscent of Westeros. “Mirzapur 2 is basically a game of thrones in Uttar Pradesh,” wrote one fan. “Did I or anyone else get the vibe of Game of Thrones while watching Mirzapur 2?” Wrote another.

Meanwhile, fans and critics of Mirzapur’s first season tweeted comparisons to Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, repeating the observations others made for the first time in 2018. “Idq called it but Mirzapur is definitely the Brahmin gangs of Wasseypur,” wrote one person. Another wrote, “Mirzapur is not considered to be an official representation of the small town of North India. Unlike the Gangs of Wasseypur, it has a very urban look.
The second season of the show was released on October 23 on Amazon Prime Video.
