Some protesters have been detained by police for violating new agricultural laws in the Shahidi Park area near the ITO in Delhi under a nationwide chakka jam called by farmers today. Exhibitors at Shaheedi Park include women’s activists and some activists from student organizations. The security around Shaheedi Park has since been enhanced.
Keeping track of drone cameras
According to reports, the police and paramilitary forces in Delhi-NCR have opposed agriculture in order to deal with the situation of the nation’s ‘Chakka Jam’ farmers on Saturday in connection with the violence during the Tractor Parade in Delhi on the Republic Day. Thousands of personnel have been deployed across all borders and security has been tightened. The help of drone cameras is being taken to monitor the situation. However, the routes in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will not be closed during the Chakka Jam on Saturday, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) said on Friday. Morcha said farmers and other national and state highways in other parts of the country will be peacefully disrupted for three hours.

Despite this, troops have been deployed at key locations in the capital, including the Red Fort and the ITO. Violence took place on January 26 at the Tractor Parade at Red Fort and the ITO, in which more than 500 policemen were injured and a demonstrator was killed.
Multi-layered barricades, barbed wire and sharp spikes have been installed on the roads, while additional police forces have been deployed to tighten security. Social media content is being monitored to keep an eye on those spreading rumors against police forces, police officials said.

A senior police officer said that adequate forces are being deployed to prevent any disturbance in law and order or to prevent any situation that affects normal life during Chakka Jam. “We are deploying police forces at all major stages as a precautionary measure so as not to disturb traffic and normal life, there is no harm to law and order and there is no unauthorized traffic jam in violation of rules,” the official said.
