New Zealand batsman Devon Conway has not been able to find any buyers at the 14th for Auction of the Indian Premier League. None of the franchises have expressed ichness to include Kiwi batsmen in the team. After the IPL auction, Conway made a big bang with his bat in the first T20 against Australia. Conway’s 99-run unbeaten innings of 59 balls against the Kangaroo team helped New Zealand beat Australia by 53 in the first T20.

Conway hit 10 fours and three long sixes in his 99-run knock. The Australian bowler looked utterly helpless against the Kiwi batsman and failed to slow the pace. Thanks to Conway’s innings, New Zealand batted first and scored 184 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the entire Australian team was all out for 131. Apart from Conway, Ish Sodhi bowled superbly, taking 4 for 28 in his four over spell. New Zealand took a 1-1 lead in the five-match T20 series.

Chasing a target of 185, Australia started off badly and the team lost their first four wickets by scoring just 19 runs. Captain Aaron Finch (1), Matthew Wade (12) and Josh Philip (2) failed to score much. Mitchell Marsh (45) held one end, but Glenn Maxwell (1) and Marcus Stoinis (8) were unable to support them. On behalf of the Kiwi team, Trent Boult and Tim Southee gave the kangaroo a start and both took four wickets.
