Former Pakistan High Commissioner to Pakistan Abdul Basit posted a video on Wednesday of the visit of Ram Madhav, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In it, he has tried to explain how the BJP’s objective was realized by taking Kashmir and Article 370 at that meeting.

Basit said in this seven-minute video that there was an “unpleasant” meeting before the 2014 assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Basit, Ram Madhav’s tone in this meeting was “disgusting and offensive”. Let me tell you, this meeting was held at the India Foundation office in New Delhi.

Madhav was in charge of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir at the time, Basit said. He said Pakistan should forget Pakistan and worry about Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “Pakistan is only wasting time to repeal Article 370 from Kashmir,” Basit said, adding that it was part of the BJP’s manifesto.

Basit said Ram Madhav gave Islamabad a glimpse of what is to come. Ram Madhav defined Pakistan as a terrorist nation, he said. According to Basit, he tried to convince Ram Madhav that this is not the way you think. But they did not listen to me. After this meeting I got clear indications of the BJP’s thinking and policies regarding Pakistan.

After Basit’s statement, Ram Madhav said details of the meeting were disclosed without his consent. She said our meeting was definitely long, but the mother was not aggressive. I was only conveying the Indian point of view.
