Inaugurating the second Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it was a significant step towards making Jammu and Kashmir a bastion of the Cold War. The tournament, which ends March 2, features 27 states and union players.
“This is a step towards registering India’s presence in the international winter sports and making Jammu and Kashmir a bastion of the Cold War,” PM Modi said in a virtual speech.

He said, ‘These games reinforce the resolve of Ek Bharat, the great Bharat. I have been told that this time the number of competitors has doubled. This is a sign of increasing people’s tendency towards winter sports. These sports include Alpine Skiing, Nordic Ski, Snowboarding, Ski Mountaineering, Ice Hockey and Ice Skating.
