“It’s a story about the plight of a family and a person – one of the most remarkable performances I have ever seen, Balaram Halwai, played by Adarsh Gaurav, one of the most talented newcomers I’ve ever worked with,” Chopra Jonas tweeted.
The 38-year-old film will showcase Balarama as a successful businessman in India from poor villagers, showing how hunger and lack of opportunity create and maintain man’s “animal instincts”.
“Rajkummer Rao, who is already one of the most cheerful actors in India, has a few cans. The film is powerful. It makes you uncomfortable and most importantly makes you feel good. Netflix is coming soon globally,” he said.
In the film, Chopra Jonas plays Pinky Madame, a first-generation immigrant in the US.
“She’s in India with her husband. She’s traveling for business. And then … Life changes! Pinky Madame is a unique character, so happy to play her undeniable role in the story.”
The 38-year-old actor said, “It is a story that has to be told and is alive with its characters. It’s Ramin’s hand.”
Has collaborated with streaming giant Mukul Diora to produce The White Tiger. Chopra Jonas and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay serve as executive producers.
