Punjab Nikkei Chunav Result: BJP Backs In Punjab civic polls, People Say – Farmers are angry

In the civic elections in Punjab, the Congress has gained a considerable edge over the BJP. These elections were recently held amid a campaign against three agricultural laws by the central government. The BJP has suffered a setback in the result which started coming at 8 am on Wednesday. Elections were held on 117 local bodies in the state, including 109 municipalities and urban panchayats and 8 municipalities. Congress has won six of the seven municipal seats in the municipal election. The party won in Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Abohar, Batala and Pathankot municipalities. At the same time, the outcome of the seventh city policing election is likely to be revealed by this evening. The reactions of various party leaders and people have begun to erode after the BJP fell behind in the results of the civic polls. People say that it is the anger of the farmers against the BJP that came out in the results.

Commenting on the results, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra said the BJP toppled the Punjab civic polls amid the peasant movement. He wrote, “We see, we must also see,” Congress MP Deepinder Singh Hooda tweeted congratulations on the Congress victory. “Many congratulations to the Congress, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Ji and all members of the State Congress Committee for their extraordinary victory in the Punjab Metropolitan Elections,” he wrote. These results indicate ‘changing times’, which is the ‘mann ki bath’ of the farmer-worker-entrepreneur-employee-youth.

“The state government has rejected the negative politics of BJP, SAD and AAP,” Sunil Jakhar, president of Punjab Congress, said. Speaking to reporters, Jakhar said, “We have contested the development agenda. This victory will inspire our workers to work harder.”

Prashant Bhushan, senior advocate of the Supreme Court and founder of Swaraj India, tweeted that the Congress won the Punjab civic polls. The BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party lost. The acolyte is also switched. This is the effect of agrarian laws and the peasant movement. Now we need to see what happens in Uttar Pradesh next year.

Let us tell you that in the wake of the peasant movement against the NDA government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party at the center, the outcome of these elections is nothing short of encouraging to the Congress. Congress is on track to win the state assembly elections early next year. Polls were held on February 14, with more than 70 percent of the franchise cast.
