Real estate: Home sales in seven major cities fell 23 percent in April-June

Real Estate Business: In the April-June quarter of the current calendar year, home sales in the seven major cities of the country fell 23 percent on a quarter-to-quarter basis. Home sales fell due to the second wave of the Kovid-19 pandemic. However, home sales rose 83 percent in the quarter. This information is provided in a recent report by JLL India.

Sales of residential properties were 19,635 units in the April-June quarter, according to the report. It gained 25,583 units in the January-March quarter and 10,753 units in the April-June quarter last year. JLL India oversees the sale of residential properties in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. Mumbai includes Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Home sales in Bangalore rose 47 per cent on a quarterly basis to 3,500 units from 2,382 units in the previous quarter. Home sales in Chennai have fallen from 3,200 per cent to 600 per cent. Home sales in Delhi-NCR also fell 55 per cent to 2,440. This number is 5,448 units for the January-March quarter. Home sales in Hyderabad declined to 3,157 units from 3,709 units in the same month last year.

Sales of residential units in Kolkata fell 56 per cent to 578 units from 1,320 units. Home sales in Mumbai rose to 5,821 units from 5,779 units. In Pune, home sales fell six per cent to 3,539 in the previous quarter. According to statistics, residential units sold in April-June 2020 were 1,977 units in Bangalore, 460 in Chennai, 2,250 in Delhi-NCR, 1,207 in Hyderabad, 481 in Kolkata, 3,527 units in Mumbai and 851 units in Pune.
