4G Internet service has been restored in Jammu and Kashmir. This information was given by a senior government official on Friday. This service has been restored after about 18 months. It may be known that after the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the government had stopped 4G internet service in the newly created Union Territory as a precautionary measure. A Jammu and Kashmir administration spokesperson said that 4G mobile Internet service has been restored in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson Rohit Kansal tweeted on Friday, “4G mobile internet service is being restored across Jammu and Kashmir.”
The internet ban in Jammu and Kashmir had passed for a long time. On 5 August 2019, the government took this decision to end 4G service. After which Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two new union territories, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. After this, many leaders, including former chief ministers, were taken into custody.
Broadband internet service and slow mobile data were slowly being restored for the past one year. The government started doing so after the Supreme Court reprimanded the central government. According to sources, the service is expected to be restored from midnight on Friday. In August last year, high-speed mobile Internet service was restored in two districts, Ganderbal in Kashmir region and Udhampur in Jammu region. 2G Internet service was restored in early 2020.’

On the incident, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “Happy 4G! For the first time since August 2019, J&K will have 4G mobile data. better late than never.”
