RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav made unique record of staying most time in hospital as patient

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, convicted in the infamous fodder scam cases in United Bihar, has been in the Jharkhand chief Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for more than two years. This is the longest record of any patient admitted in this medical college hospital. At the same time, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demands that Lalu be sent back to jail.

The BJP alleged that Prasad had broken all records of hospital stay and the party demanded immediate shifting to his jail hospital. On the other hand, RJD said that the BJP is suffering from Lalu Phobia in view of the Bihar Assembly Election.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was shifted to RIMS in late August 2018 for treatment. He was in the paying ward of RIMS till August 5. The RIMS director’s bungalow was shifted to Ranchi to save him from infection after a growing case of corona and RIMM being shifted to the corona hospital.

When asked about the longest stay in the hospital for treatment, Rims Deputy Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Kumar said that according to my information, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been undergoing treatment for more than two years. This is the longest time for any patient. Although Lalu is suffering from many diseases, the main concern is his type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Apart from this, he is a patient of chronic kidney. Senior physician Umesh Prasad, who is treating the RJD chief, said on Lalu’s current health condition that his condition is still stable. However, his sugar level was quite volatile on Tuesday. Before Laloo Prasad, former state Water Resources Minister Kamlesh Singh was detained for more than a year in RIMS in connection with disproportionate assets recorded by the CBI. Till the treatment went on.

It is noteworthy that former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been in jail since 23 December 2017 after being convicted in the fodder scam case. He was shifted to RIMS and then to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi due to health complications two months after being in jail. However, he was sent back to Rheims in May 2018 after being declared fit by AIIMS. After returning to Rheims, he received three days of parole on 10 May for attending his elder son’s wedding. Subsequently, in June 2018, the interim bail was extended by the Jharkhand High Court for advance treatment in a hospital in Mumbai. In late August 2018 he was sent back to Rheims. He has been under treatment at RIMS since then. Lalu has spent only two months out of 35 months since his conviction in Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi.

Lalu has paid over Rs 7 lakh to the RIMS administration as the in-charge of the paying ward. The RIMS administration will soon determine the rate for Kelly’s bungalow where she is currently undergoing treatment. In this regard, RIMS Deputy Superintendent said that even though the rate has not been finalized yet, we are working on the proposal of rent of five thousand rupees per day for the bungalow. The committee will soon meet to finalize the rate and Lalu will be charged the prescribed fee.

On the other hand, Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev raised the question, saying that Prasad has broken all records of the longest hospital stay. If he can be treated in the bungalow of the director of RIMS, then what is the problem in treating him in the jail hospital? RIMS is not a super specialty hospital. The BJP spokesperson alleged that the Hemant Soren government had shifted Lalu to the bungalow in view of the Bihar elections. Kyle Awas has now transformed into the RJD headquarters for the Bihar elections.

At the same time, RJD’s Jharkhand President Abhay Singh said that BJP is suffering from Lalu Phobia. The RJD chief has true respect for the prison manual and the court. He claimed that the BJP’s position in Bihar had weakened. So they are making irrational statements in desperation.
