Messi and Colombian Luis Diaz scored four goals each in the Copa America Tournament. In their first group stage match, Messi scored his first goal of the tournament on a free kick in a 1–1 draw against Argentina. The 34-year-old striker scored two goals in a 4-1 win over Bolivia, and scored his fourth goal in a free kick in the team’s 3-0 win over Ecuador in the quarter-finals. Messi assisted in scoring five goals in the tourney. Angel Di Maria’s only goal in the final against Brazil was that he was not involved.
