Sanjay Root – High Court decision on construction of metro car shed is unfortunate

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday said the Bombay High Court’s decision to stop construction of a metro car shed in Kanjurmarg is unfortunate. This project is concerned with the development of Mumbai and Maharashtra.

In a conversation with newsmen in Mumbai, Raut attacked the BJP. He alleged that the opposition BJP was not in power yet, thus impeding the development of Maharashtra. He said that a conspiracy was being held by the government headed by Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) not to allow it to work in the public interest.

However, people in Maharashtra or here cannot be harassed for long, he said. The Rajya Sabha member said, “No leader is constructing his bungalow or farmhouse on Kanjurmarg land. Instead, it is a matter of development in Mumbai, Maharashtra and the country. It is unfortunate that such a decision was made. The District Collector has approved the construction of the Metro Car Shed.

Justice Deepankar Dutt and Justice G.S. Kulkarni’s court has banned any construction work on this land. There is confusion between the Center and the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government over land ownership in Kanjurmarg. The Maharashtra government intends to build a metro car shed in Kanjurmarg, which was previously proposed to be built in the green area of suburban Goregaon, in the Aare Colony.

Raut said, “The former Devendra Fadnavis government will construct a housing scheme for the underprivileged sections of the police and society in Kanjurmarg land, which belongs to the state government.

“But whatever happens suddenly, the Maharashtra government under conspiracy seems to want nobody to do development work in the public interest,” he said. There are millions of cases that the court needs to pay attention to, he said. Referring to the news of the Sikh saint’s suicide on the Modi government’s three new agricultural laws, Raut said the matter should be addressed by the Center and the court.

Following the High Court decision, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said the state government should abandon its “hubris”. In his statement to Fadnavis, Routh said he needed to reconsider his definition of ego.
