Petrol Diesel Price Today 15 May 2021: No change in petrol and diesel prices today. There is no relief from oil price rises reaching new heights across the country on Friday. Petrol and diesel prices have been raised four times this week. On Friday, petrol prices were hiked by 29 paise a liter and diesel by 34 paise a liter. After the hike, petrol Kadam in the national capital was priced at Rs 92.34 per liter and diesel at Rs 82.95 per liter, selling at the same price on Saturday. The price of petrol is already Rs 100 per liter in some states and cities. In many cities in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, prices are around Rs 100 per liter. At the same time, petrol prices in Mumbai have also reached this level.

The price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 98.65 per liter and diesel is priced at Rs 90.11 per liter. In different cities of the country, the price of fuel varies according to the price of VAT and the cost of transporting petrol and diesel. In Rajasthan, the highest VAT is levied on petrol and diesel, followed by Madhya Pradesh. Petrol price in Rajasthan is Rs 103.27 per liter, while diesel price is Rs 95.70 per liter.

Petrol and diesel prices have been hiked for the fourth time this week. But prices were stable during the state assembly elections of five states, including West Bengal, last month. The eight-fold increase in petrol costs Rs 1.95 per liter and diesel costs Rs 2.22 per liter. In March last year, when the government increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel to the highest level ever, the petrol price was Rs 22.75 per liter and the diesel price was Rs 20.66 per liter. This intermediate drop is included in the calculation. Central and state governments collect 60 per cent of the retail price of petrol and 54 per cent of the diesel price. The center levies an excise duty of Rs 32.90 on petrol and Rs 31.80 on diesel.
