India will have to play a six-match limited-overs series against Sri Lanka this month. But before the series, Sri Lanka have decided to replace all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as the captain of the upcoming limited overs series. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has changed six leaders in the last four years. The board has now announced that it will hand over the command of the one-day team to Shanaka. Shanaka was the first player to sign a contract. 29-year-old Shanaka is an aggressive batsman and fast bowler. Prior to Shanaka, Sri Lanka captained Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga, Dimuth Karunaratne and Perera from early 2018. Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has been joking on social media after SLC repeatedly changed the captain of the Sri Lankan team. This comment by Jafar is becoming increasingly viral on social media.
Commenting on Twitter, Jaffer said, ‘Man, many boys don’t change DPs, because so many SL captains. Shanaka will be Sri Lanka’s 10th ODI captain since 2017. Earlier, Upul Tharanga, Angela Mathews, Chamara Kapugedera, Lasith Malinga, Thisara Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne, Lahiru Thirimanne, Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka captained the ODI team.
