Sri Lanka have announced their squad for the limited-overs series against South Africa. South Africa will tour Sri Lanka in September next month. On this tour, Sri Lanka will play a series of three one-day and three T20 matches with South Africa. All the series will take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Senior cricketer Dinesh Chandimal has returned to the squad for the series. The series will start from September 2. If Chandimal is included in the 30-man squad, some senior players have been dropped. The biggest names are Angelo Mathews, Dimuth Karunaratne and Tunnel Lakmal.

Chandimal played his last limited over match on 14 March 2021 against the West Indies. He has represented Sri Lanka in 149 ODIs and 57 T20 internationals. Apart from Chandimal, seven uncapped players have also been allowed in the squad. Newcomers in the squad: Dilshan Madhushanka, Sahan Arachigi, Pulina Wave and Mahesh Sharma. Senior cricketer Kusal Perera has also returned to the team. Perera missed the limited-overs series against India due to injury. Dasun Shanaka has been appointed captain of the Sri Lankan team for the limited-overs series against South Africa.
