Stock Market: The stock market is flat, the Sensex falls but the Nifty picks up

Today, the second day of the week, the stock market closed flat. The BSE Sensex fell 14.37 points to 50,637. At the same time, the Nifty closed at 15,208 with a gain of 10.75 points.

The major stock index Sensex rose more than 250 points in early trading on Tuesday, following the rise in global indicators and large stocks like Infosys, Asian Paints and HDFC. The 30-share BSE index rose 265.07 points, or 0.52 percent, to 50,916.97 and the NSE Nifty gained 86 points, or 0.57 points, to 15,283.70.

Asian Paints topped 3 per cent on the Sensex. M&M, Titan, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle India, NTPC, HUL, ONGC and Infosys also benefited. HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Reliance and ITC, on the other hand, closed the red.

The Sensex rose 111.42 points, or 0.22 points, to 50,651.90 in the previous session and the Nifty gained 22.40 points, or 0.15 points, to 15,197.70. According to stock market provisional data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) had a total base of Rs 585.36 crore.
