Former middle-order batsman Suresh Raina has revealed that he will not participate in IPL 2020. Raina went to the UAE with the Chennai Super Kings in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, but returned to India without playing any matches, citing personal reasons. Following Raina’s decision, there was some quarrel between him and the team management. The left-handed batsman has announced his retirement on August 15, 2020, shortly after Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement.

Speaking to the Times of India, Suresh Raina said: ‘Why am I sorry. I spent time with my children and attended my family. I wish I could go back to my family. There was an incident in Punjab and they wanted me. My wife needed me in addition to the time of the epidemic. I’ve been playing for the last 20 years and I know I can do it again. But, when the family needs you, you have to be there. I thought it would be best for me to do that job at the time. Suresh Raina, who has scored the most number of runs for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, has not made any comment about playing next season, but reports say he will remain part of Chennai Super Kings.
