Tamil Nadu polls: AIADMK releases first list of candidates, CM Palaniswami wins seat

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has released the first list of candidates for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Chief Minister K Palaniswami will contest from Idappadi constituency in his home district of Salem and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam from Bodinayakanur in Theni district. Senior leader D. Jayakumar (Fisheries Minister) will contest from Raipuram and CV Shanmugam (Law Minister) from Villupuram in Northern Tamil Nadu. The legislators SP Shanmuganathan and S Tenmohani will contest from Sreevagundam and Nilakottai (reserved seats) respectively.

Tell us that all 234 seats in Tamil Nadu will be voted on one stage on 6th April. In Tamil Nadu, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the BJP alliance are all set against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress alliance. The AIDMK won 134 seats in the 2016 election, while the DMK won 89 seats. Congress won 8 seats.

Simultaneously, the DMK on Thursday allocated six seats to its ally Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Kachi (VCK) for the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu on April 6. DMK President MK Stalin and VCK chief Thole Thirumawalvan had made an election deal at the Anna Arena here.
