India’s star badminton player Saina Nehwal and former world number one Kidambi Srikanth entered the second round of the men’s singles of Thailand Open Super 1000 on Wednesday. They will now face Thailand’s Busanan Ongboumrungfan, who defeated them by 15. Saina was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to the Kovid-19 positive on Tuesday, but later thanked the Badminton World Federation officials and doctors for participating in the negative test.

Yesterday, Saina said I was found to be Kovid-19 positive after PCR testing but I already stated that I had Kovid-19 in November last year, so I have antibodies inside me. I tried to convince the doctor and after my blood test and x-ray, the doctor said I was fine and I was not Covid-19. The doctor, BWF and all those who decided to play me said that I am very grateful. It was a tired day but I was happy that I was able to play the match.
