A new website for tax returns for the Income Tax Department was launched on Monday night. This will increase tax compliance, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday. Announcing the launch of the new portal www.incometax.gov.in, the Finance Minister said that making tax compliance experience more tax-friendly is a significant step.

With the new Website 2.0 for e-filing, there is a single window system for tax matters. This includes many new features so that taxpayers can sit at home and file returns from their mobile phones. The government’s effort is not only to make taxpayer return filing easier but also to speed up their refunds through this website.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Finance, all the major services provided on the desktop through the portal are also available on the Income Tax Department’s mobile app. Considering the convenience of income tax payers and the increasing use of mobile phones, the Income Tax Department will offer a tax return facility through the mobile app.

Pre-filled ITR

According to the Income Tax Department, using the new portal through mobile will be easier. Pre-filled income tax details, ITR forms and simple benefits will be made available on this. There are many other amenities available. Experts say that if there is any discrepancy in the specific information, the Income Tax Department will only insist on it because its requirements are already vacant.

The app tells you how to return

The Income Tax Department says that mobile is very important in this new portal. On the portal, the income tax payer receives guidelines at every step through user manuals and video clips, such as how to file tax returns.

Payment details are displayed immediately

NSDL was given the responsibility of displaying payment details after submitting challan on the old website, but the details of the payment will be shown on the new website. In addition, CBDT will also introduce a new tax payment system from June 18.

You will get all the necessary information

All the work done by the taxpayer is displayed on the dashboard. This includes all forms of communication and uploaded or pending documents made by the department.

Call center facility

This website contains a list of frequently asked questions (F&Q). Not only that, but there is also a tax-related content, video and chatbot that addresses taxpayer doubts. Furthermore, if any query has not yet been resolved, a newly created call center can take help.
