The New Zealand team traveled to the UK on Saturday to play in the two-Test series against England and the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India. The two-Test series against host England will take place from June 2 and the final of the World Test Championships will be in Southampton from June 18. Before the team’s departure, the team’s Twitter handle read “Time to Fly.”
Captain Ken Williamson, Kyle Jameson and Mitchell Santner are currently in the Maldives and will be arriving from the UK, playing in the postponed Indian Premier League 2021. All three have reached the Maldives from Delhi. Cases of coronavirus were on the rise in Delhi when they left. Star fast bowler Trent Boult has returned home after taking part in the IPL and may be out of both matches against England. The Indian team is expected to make their way to the UK in the first week of June following a tough Mumbai current.
