There is good news for crores of income tax payers across the country. The Income Tax Department is launching a new website, www.incometax.gov.in, to file returns from Monday, June 7. This will make it much easier to file income returns and speed up the refund process.
According to the Central Direct Tax Board (CBDT), the new website makes it easier for taxpayers to file returns. CBDT will introduce a new tax payment system from June 18, it said in a statement. The mobile app will also be launched after launching the portal. After this, taxpayers can file returns from their mobile. Since the new website was launched, the old website is not running from June 1 to June 6. According to the news, the old website already had information on salaries and savings. However, other than saving new ones, any type of dividend, TDS and other information is already filling in the form. This makes it easier for salary earners and pensioners to file income tax returns. Merchants pre-fill many kinds of new information compared to the past.
There are five special features available on the new website
1- Free software is available to help taxpayers, so that any person can learn how to file returns. It is with you, if there is any dilemma or question in your mind, the answer is here too.
2- Only after login, all required information is available in one place on dashboard so users can check it and take action as needed. This means it will be easier to file an ITR, review it and take any action.
3- The desktop / laptop version is now available on mobile. Returns can be submitted from anywhere via mobile app.
4- The new portal has the facility to process the income tax return so that the refund will be made soon.
5- The new portal also includes a new payment facility. Payments can also be made with UPI, credit card and net banking.
24-hour call center facility available
There will also be a new call center for taxpayers, where any person filing an ITR will be able to tell their problems and seek immediate redress. Regarding the call center, experts say the facility is better if available 24/7. In addition, to compensate taxpayers, the website includes tutorials, videos and chatbots or systems such as live agents, so that taxpayers can be resolved.
