The remaining matches of the IPL 2021 will be played in the UAE between September 15 and October 15, with the BCCI announcing soon

There is an ongoing debate over when and where the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 will take place. The second phase of IPL 2021 is likely to be announced soon by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The remaining 20 matches will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) shortly before the ICC T20 World Cup. The BCCI is currently in contact with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the second-tier IPL to make some changes to the schedule of the five-match Test series between India and England.

According to the Times of India, the BCCI is planning to hold the remaining IPL matches in the UAE from September 15 to October 15. For this, the BCCI has requested the ECB to narrow the gap between the second and third Test between India and England so that the Test series ends shortly thereafter. The BCCI has called a special general meeting on May 29 and may announce its plans for the IPL on this day. The ICC World Cup will be played from October 18. In view of the Kovid-19 epidemic in India, the T20 World Cup could be moved to the UAE, which will be held in India.

The five-Test series between India and England will be played in 41 days, with a 9-day gap between the second and third Tests. BCCI wants to reduce this gap so that the Test series ends before its time. According to a BCCI source, “IPL proves to be a perfect practice for the T20 World Cup.” The ICC is also keeping an eye on this window.
