Lucknow. The Lucknow bench of the High Court has ruled out reservation for seats in UP panchayat elections. The High Court said reservation on seats should be implemented considering the year 2015 as the original year. Earlier, the state government said it was ready to implement the reservation system, considering 2015 as the base year. On this, Justice Rituraj Awasthi and Justice Manish Mathur’s divisional bench has approved a three-stage panchayat election till May 25.
Let us tell you that the order dated 11 February 2021 was challenged in the Lucknow seat of the High Court. The application states that the reservation has been applied to the District Panchayat, Setra Panchayat and Gram Panchayat seats under Rule 4 of the Rules for Implementation of Reservation in Panchayat Elections The 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010 elections were said to be the original year for the implementation of the reservation.
According to the petition, by order dated September 16, 2015, instead of 1995, 2015 was considered the original year and the reservation must be enforced. Within this order, the 2001 and 2011 censuses have undergone large-scale demographic changes, so it is not appropriate to apply the reservation considering 1995 as the original year. It is said that the order dated 11th February 2021 was ignored by the 16 September 2015 order. The year 1995 is considered the original year. It is said that the 2015 panchayat elections were also held by order of 16 September 2015.
