Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Laxman said, “If Ishant Sharma is 100 percent fit, he has come into the squad but he had to replace Mohammed Siraj. “It is a luxury for India to play with four fast bowlers despite the terms of the proposal. Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Siraj can bowl long balls with red balls,” he said.

The former batsman said, ‘I think India has the luxury of playing with four fast bowlers, whatever the terms of the proposal. India have got three quality bowlers and both Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Siraj can bowl long balls with red balls. Ashwin has brought variety to bowling attacks, he has plenty of experience. So I cannot understand the logic behind this decision. I mean after listening to the hero Virat Kohli it is obvious that he wants to continue this template. Ashwin must wait for his time. Even if Ashwin doesn’t play at Lord’s under these conditions, I don’t see him in the playing XI and I don’t think Virat Kohli will change the template anytime soon.
