WTC Final 2021: Batting or bowling first if you win the toss? Sourav Ganguly gave this special advice to Virat Kohli

The wait for the final of the World Test Championships is over. India and New Zealand face off for their first WTC title from June 18 to 22 at the Aegis Bowl in Southampton. Team India has announced its Playing XI for the final. The team has built up confidence in Ishant Sharma’s experience and has also included Ravindra Jadeja and Vichandran Ashwin. Given the conditions in England, the role of the toss in the final is considered very important. Meanwhile, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said what India should do after winning the toss.

Tendulkar says Ishant Sharma is not India’s fast bowler’s role in the final of the World Test Championship.

Speaking to India Today, Sourav Ganguly said India should decide to bat first and win the toss, despite the inclement weather. He said, ‘If you open the record books and see India’s best performance on a foreign ground, we have only won matches every time we batted first. Whether you want to face the initial pressure in the opposite situation or wait for the fourth innings is an option. You see the game against 2002 Leeds or 2018 South Africa, we batted under conditions that helped the bowlers and at first soaked up the pressure, then put the runs on the scoreboard and we won the matches.

Shafali Verma made history, becoming the first Indian batsman to score the biggest innings in his debut Test

Ganguly said Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will be very important in the WTC final. He said, ‘Opening up on foreign tours is very important. We performed well on tours in Australia, England and Pakistan because we had starters Virender Sehwag and Akash Chopra who were playing a new ball and making them old. When you have 2 wickets for 30 runs, it is very difficult for middle order batsmen.
