Xiaomi has disabled the anti-theft feature offered on its flagship smartphone, the Mi MIX 4, under pressure from the Chinese government. There was a lot of talk about this feature on the phone at launch. The specialty of this feature is that in case of loss or theft, the phone can be easily detected even without a SIM card.

According to the South China Morning Post, the Chinese government has ordered Xiaomi to remove the feature from the Mi MIX 4. Xiomi informed via Weibo Post about removing this feature. According to reports, this feature over the phone is a violation of applicable rules in China and has not been approved by Chinese regulators.

Virtual SIM technology is banned in China
The feature offered on this phone by Xiaomi is based on E-SIM or Virtual SIM technology and there are strict restrictions on this technology in China. In this entire matter, Xiaomi has not yet made any official statement.
