According to Canalys Research, Samsung is the world’s largest smartphone company globally with a 19 percent stake in the second quarter of this year. At the same time, Xiaomi managed to increase its market share to 17 percent. Apple ranks third on this list. In terms of smartphone shipments, Oppo and Vivo are fourth and fifth with 10 percent market share.

Ben Stanton, research manager at Canalys, said the average selling price of Xiaomi is 40% and 75% cheaper than Samsung and Apple respectively.
