Netflix is gearing up for the global launch of a new anime series based on Valve’s multiplayer online battle arena game Dota 2. The 8-episode series is titled Dota: Dragons Blood and will be available worldwide streaming on March 25th. It tells the story of Dragon Knight’s durable melee heroes, who have swords and shields in a game called Davion, who are “devoted to wiping out the scourge from the face of the world.” On his journey, Davian crosses paths with the ancient Eldworm (dragon race) and the noble Princess Mirana
Like these epics, Davion gets involved in events bigger than he expected. Dragon’s Blood was developed under the leadership of showrunner Ashley Edward Miller, who previously worked on screenwriter and producer X-Men: First Class, Thor and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was painted and animated by Studio MIR, known for The Legend of Korra and Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender, which features 80s-style artwork similar to the original Voltron.
