Let Babar become the fourth player from Pakistan to become the number one batsman in ODIs. Before him, nationals Zaheer Abbas (1983–84), Javed Miandad (1988–89) and Mohammad Yousuf (2003) also topped the ODI batsmen. Babar is now eight points higher than Kohli in the ODI rankings. Before the series against South Africa, Babur had 837 rating points, but scored 858 (more than Kohli) by scoring 103 in the first match. In the second ODI, he scored 32 points and dropped to 852 in last week’s ranking.
Babar finished fifth best in the Test and currently sits sixth, he is third in T20 International but he is number one. Left-hand opener Fakhar Zaman is another Pakistani batsman who has topped the ODI batsmen’s rankings. He jumped five places from his 101 innings to take his career-best seventh place.
