Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammed Akram has withdrawn his name, refusing to work in the current selection system where Pakistan Cricket Board cannot afford new chief selectors. The new system, which went into effect in October 2019, will be headed by Misbah-ul-Haq, the head coach of the national team. In addition, the remaining members of the committee are the head coaches of six provincial teams. The source said, ‘Akram said he cannot work in the current system. He said the old system would have to be implemented if the board were to take their services. Misbah recently resigned as chief selector. He says he is struggling to fulfill his responsibilities as a head coach and therefore wants to play the same role.
